Please give us a short summary of your website?

Your Complete Guide to Investing in Mutual Funds presents all of the information required for individual investors to learn about mutual funds and assemble and maintain a portfolio of mutual funds.

There are five primary sections: An Introduction to Mutual Funds, The Various Types of Mutual Funds, Investing Basics, Evaluating and Comparing Mutual Funds, and Mutual Fund Portfolios.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

The potential for developing a source of income that was not dependent on my living in a densly populated area, and the opportunity to be my own boss and devote my efforts to a field that I find very interesting.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website and it was launched in December of 2007.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I chose a name that I thought was appropriate and would be appealing to visitors, and incorporated the keyword phrase of my home page.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

My content is much richer and more comprehensive than any other site I know of that is devoted to mutual fund investing.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I hope to derive a steady stream of income from the site and associated services, and continue to develop and maintain it for as long as it remains a viable business venture.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

The site is too new to tell. It's less than two months old at this time and I'm still adding content rather than attempting to capitalize on my investment to date.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I'd pay a developer to spiffy it up by moving to a CSS-supported three column liquid layout and maybe dress it up a little artisically. It's currently a pretty plain vanilla site.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

My plans for the site don't reach beyond my ability to handle it myself. However, if unforseen developments caused the site to mushroom, I'd have to figure out how best to accommodate the unexpected growth. I definitely wouldn't turn my back on success to avoid enlisting outside help.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

I wasn't prepared for the work involved in building traffic. I was working with the niave impression that content was king to the search engines and building a content-rich web site would ensure that my pages were served up with relevant search results and probably at a fairly high level. So I'm now devoting a lot of time to cultivating inbound links.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Building traffic.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

It's too soon too tell. But it looks like finding one page that is based on a hot topic, getting that page up to a top ten ranking so it brings people to my site, then directing their attention to some of my best pages with the hope that they like the site and spend more time there will be my bet bet at this stage.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

My expectations were rather hazy. It's up and running and I'm currently working on building traffic, which is a big chore that I han't anticipated. Once I get to the point where I'm actually running a fully functioning web site I'll find out what it's all about.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It's only been live for a month and a half. If I'm not deriving enough income to justify the time it takes to keep it up a year from now, I'll probably stop trying to develop it any more and be content with any ad revenue it brings me.
